Reform, explained: An advocacy update for members

If you managed to keep even one eye on the news over the summer break, you’ll have noticed the Government has wasted no time kicking off the new year with a sweep of major reforms. And for the property sector, these changes are shaping up to be significant.

We’re talking about once-in-a-generation (and hopefully once-only) reforms that will fundamentally reshape how our planning system works, how developers contribute to funding infrastructure, and how we address a long-broken earthquake-prone building regime.

Behind the scenes, Property Council’s Advocacy team has been busy digging into these reforms and a few others that quietly made their way onto the agenda over the break. From resource management reform and development levies, to seismic strengthening, regional council reform, the Infrastructure Funding and Financing Act, and even a proposed rates cap, there’s a lot happening, fast.

Making Sense of the Reform Agenda

To help make sense of it all, Property Council is hosting a member-only webinar with our expert Advocacy team.

This session will walk through the key reforms that are set to redefine the built environment over the coming year, with a clear focus on what they mean for property owners, developers, and investors.

We’ll unpack the detail behind the headlines, share where advocacy has already made a difference, and outline where we’re focusing our efforts next.

You’ll also hear our take on the Government’s priorities for the next six months and how you can position yourself to navigate the changes with confidence.

Webinar details at a glance

Whether you’ve been following every announcement closely or are just catching up after the holidays, this is your chance to get across what’s changing.
