Committee
Internship
We want you
Looking for your first step into governance?
The Property Council Committee Internship is designed for those who aspire to board-level roles and have an interest in corporate governance. It allows an Intern to gain valuable experience by having a non-voting seat at the local Regional Committee table for a two year term.
This is part of the Auckland and South Island regional strategies to broaden the pool of possible Regional Committee members, and benefit from a fresh perspective, whilst the experience will equip the successful applicant with practical tools, processes and insights into the governance of Property Council.
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking applications from ambitious post-graduate students and young professionals studying in, working in, or with an interest in the property industry. The successful applicant will bring innovation and motivation to the role as well as excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. Confidence and a willingness to participate and engage is also essential.
Please note the internship is unpaid and requires a commitment of approximately 5-10 hours per month.
Applications close at 5:00 pm on Friday 21 August 2026.

The detail
Far from being a token role that asks you to sit in the corner and take notes, the Committee Internship is truly diverse. You will be expected to contribute to discussions, provide your point of view and assist with the development of the local strategy for both advocacy and events.
We expect you to be prepared for meetings, to have read the meeting papers, be ready to engage in the discussion and be open to participating in sub-committees and special interest groups as availability allows.
In the South Island, the Internship is supported by the South Island Education Trust, providing the intern with complimentary attendance at local educational events in return for assistance with the operation and continued growth of the Trust’s event series.
In return, the Committee are happy to offer informal mentorship, a welcoming environment and the opportunity for you to connect and learn from some of the most experienced property professionals in the country.
Above all else, you will get out what you put in.
Past interns have gone on to join the Regional Committee long-term, having demonstrated their passion and ability and being elected during the election process. We see this as a stepping stone to further engagement and involvement with the organisation.
