Auckland Council’s Central City Masterplan Refresh 2019 Submission

Property Council members invest, own and develop property in Auckland’s central city.

We are supportive of the CCMP however, recommend that greater transport options (both within and outside of the CBD) are required. The missing element of the CCMP is connecting Wynyard Quarter with Britomart and Aotea Centre. We recommend more engagement is undertaken to identify appropriate and future transport links, vehicle use ‘zones’ and pedestrian friendly areas within the CBD. We also recommend Auckland Council work closely with developers in ensuring a range of housing typologies and commercial buildings near key emerging transport nodes are planned and developed.

In terms of funding, we recommend the council and local board investigate a targeted rate to support identified projects in the CCMP. This is to be done in consultation with the Auckland City Centre Advisory Board (in which PCNZ have a seat at the table). We recommend targeted rates replace business differentials.
