Hayden Whelan (Ngāi Tūhoe) appointed as Taranaki Lead for The Building Intelligence Group
The exciting appointment of Hayden Whelan (Ngāi Tūhoe) as Taranaki Lead / Project Director for TBIG echoes our ‘As One’ value, with our people on the ground in more locations across the motu than any other project management consultancy.
Hayden is a highly experienced Project Director who applies an innovative and holistic lens to his thinking, relishing opportunities to build relationships with people and lead projects that bring about transformation and positive outcomes for local communities, commercial entities, government, and council.
I’m thrilled to have been given the opportunity to spearhead The Building Intelligence Group’s expansion into the vibrant Taranaki region. We are deeply passionate about fostering the prosperity of the Taranaki region by actively supporting the creation of exception places to live and work, achieved through our dedication to advancing property and infrastructure projects.”
“A core strength is Hayden’s ability to understand a client’s vision and execute strategy and project delivery using his affinity for engaging and growing authentic relationships with stakeholders. Hayden is excited about laying the foundations for growing TBIG’s reputation and service offering in Taranaki. We couldn’t be prouder to have Hayden as our face for TBIG in Taranaki” says Byron Roff, TBIG Business Manager Central.
Hayden is an exceptionally talented professional who comes to us from Callaghan Innovation’s Senior Leadership team as their Chief Innovation Development Officer where he led the Gracefield Innovation Quarter redevelopment and other developments within their national property portfolio. He sees great synergies in connecting innovation with holistic building solutions for improving how people work and live and that’s what he measures success against.
Hayden’s career has kept him closely connected with TBIG over the years, delivering projects with us as client side in our work with Callaghan Innovation, and meaningful public housing projects for Wellington City Council and as part of our Wellington team in 2018. Now as TBIG’s Taranaki Lead, he’s excited about the many local conversations ahead to support the region grow as a place of opportunity.
