In 2026, Property Council New Zealand marks a significant milestone - 50 years of shaping cities where communities thrive.
To honour this legacy, we’re launching Built to Last, a year-long anniversary campaign celebrating the people, projects and purpose that have defined Property Council since 1976, and continue to shape our future.
A year of stories, people and impact
At the heart of the 50th campaign is a cinematic, interview-driven video series that will roll out across 2026. Through a collection of short films, we’ll reflect on how Property Council began as a collective voice for a growing industry, how it has helped shape New Zealand’s towns and cities, and how that legacy continues today.
The flagship hero short film will premiere exclusively at the 50th Anniversary Celebration on Thursday 12 March, before shorter thematic videos are released throughout the year, spotlighting advocacy wins, leadership, collaboration, diversity, sustainability and the members who make it all possible.
The first chapter in the series, The Beginning, explores how Property Council came to be, told through the voices of early leaders and long-standing contributors alongside today’s industry figures.
Featuring voices from across five decades
The anniversary films feature interviews with past and present leaders, advocates and city shapers from across the property sector, including: Garth Barfoot, Mark Thomson, Peter Mence, John Dakin, David Rankin, Richard Disbury, Scott Pritchard, Simon Woodhams, Kerin Russell-Smith, Paula Ormandy, Caroline McDowall, Morgan Jones, James Spence, Helen O’Sullivan, Mal McLennan, Davina Henderson, Amelia Linzey, Kirat Narayan, Marisa Lorigan and Leonie Freeman.
Together, these stories reflect a powerful truth: Property Council’s legacy is built by people and strengthened through collective action.
