Governance Updates at Property Council New Zealand

Veros Managing Director Morgan Jones has been appointed as the Regional Chair Representative on Property Council’s National Board.

In this role, Morgan, who also serves as Central Regional Chair, will advocate for regional members during his two-year term starting 1 November 2024. He succeeds Gerard Earl of Colliers, who has served with distinction over the past year.

The purpose of the Regional Chair seat to is bring a local perspective to the board and ensure fair representation across the membership. The Regional Representative appointment is by mutual decision of the current four Regional Chairs and the National Chair and considers the existing Director representation on the board. When considering the representation of the current National Board, Morgan’s background will add to the diversity of skill, experience, and regional representation. He has been a member of local regional committee since 2017.

Governance changes:
  • Melissa McGhie (Director & Senior Property Manager, Rolle Property) is the new Wellington Regional Chair, taking over from Gerard Earl (National Director – Occupier Services, Colliers).
  • Tom Chatterton (Director, Rider Levett Bucknall) steps in as the South Island Regional Chair, succeeding James Riddoch (Partner, Greenwood Roche), the outgoing Chair.
Continuing in governance roles:
  • Martin Cooper (Director, Cooper & Associates) as Auckland Regional Chair
  • Morgan Jones (Managing Director, Veros) as Central Regional Chair
  • Lauren Joyce (Head of Auckland, Precinct) as Diversity and Inclusion Committee Chair
  • Michael Sweetman (Project Director, Precinct) as Retail Committee Chair

Property Council CEO Leonie Freeman, the team, and members extend their gratitude to outgoing leaders for their contributions and warmly welcome the incoming governance team.
