Over the past two months, Property Council has hosted Annual General Meetings in the Bay of Plenty, South Island, Waikato, Auckland and Wellington, ushering in a new era of governance.
This year, the organisation made a push for increased diversity with the adoption of the 40:40:20 Pledge at all Property Council events. This pledge aims to encourage a range of speakers who are 40% male, 40% female and 20% either across local and national events, both as attendees and speakers. This pledge was further extended to include Property Council’s governing committees and we have been thrilled to see 14 new female faces join the Branch Executive Committees, bringing the total number of women across our governance to 30 (roughly 26%).
While 40:40:20 is an ambitious target – and we appreciate that it will take some time to get there – it gives us something to aspire to and we are very pleased with the progress made in such a short time. We thank those members who have made the conscious decision to encourage their female staff to put their names forward, you are helping to create an industry where everyone belongs.
Several branches also saw a change in leadership, with James Riddoch of Greenwood Roche succeeding Roger Davidson in the South Island, Scott Adams of Carrus succeeding Brooke Courtney in the Bay of Plenty, Andrew Hay of Stride Property succeeding Michael Holloway in Auckland and Paul Robinson of The Woolstore succeeding Denis Wood in Wellington.
The Property Council team wishes to acknowledge our previous committee members for their dedication and hard work over the past year and would like to make special mention of the departing Branch Presidents; Roger Davidson, Brooke Courtney, Michael Holloway and Denis Wood. These people have generously volunteered a significant amount of time to representing their respective branches over the past two to three years; they have done our members proud and we simply couldn’t operate without their valued input. On behalf of all members – thank you.
With only the Otago Chapter AGM to go, we look forward to welcoming further new faces to the team.
