When Tiri acquired Charlton Property Management, she transformed the business by introducing new software, improving company processes, and fostering a positive work culture. Judges praised her for taking on the risk of ownership, her active role in mentoring, and her leadership during the Auckland floods, where she relocated people in need. Martelli McKegg Long Service Award
With over 45 years of leadership experience in New Zealand and internationally, Dan’s remarkable career has left an indelible mark on our sector. After leading the establishment of Icon in New Zealand in 2017, Dan helped solidify its reputation as a market leader for large, complex projects and high-rise construction before transitioning to a mentoring and governance role. His career began in structural engineering, with hands-on leadership experience gained through significant projects like Auckland’s ASB building. Dan’s global journey then took him to Hawaii, Guam, and Dubai, where he oversaw the delivery of the iconic Burj al Arab—one of the world’s most spectacular buildings.
Back in New Zealand, Dan held key executive leadership roles with Multiplex and Hawkins, always driven by his core values of integrity, passion, and innovation. A champion of best-practice techniques, he has built high-performance teams and fostered environments where excellence can thrive.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dan’s dedication to the industry and its people is reflected in his ongoing support of the Property Council and his leadership as one of the founders of Mates in Construction, a groundbreaking charity focused on suicide prevention in our sector.

Barker and Associates Supreme Excellence Award
The B201 redevelopment transformed a 50-year-old Human Sciences Building into a world-class 26,500m² educational environment. Serving the faculties of Education and Social Work, Arts, and Creative Arts and Industries, the project aimed to create a sustainable, modern facility at the heart of the University’s City Campus. With a brief to achieve a 6 Green Star rating, the project set a new benchmark for sustainability in educational buildings, achieving the highest numeric score ever awarded in New Zealand — 93 out of 98.
Led by a collaboration between the University, Precon (project management), Jasmax (architecture), Beca (engineering), BBD (quantity surveyors), Hawkins (construction), Haumi (cultural consultancy), and mana whenua Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, the project integrated cultural narratives into its design. At its peak, over 350 professionals worked on the redevelopment.
Judges praised the project’s outstanding collaboration and its commitment to a “no blame” culture. Despite numerous challenges, the team delivered a world-leading result that will inspire the industry for years to come.
