Going for Housing Growth Submission

Sandamali Ambepitiya, Senior Advocacy Advisor for Property Council New Zealand shares an update on the Government’s Going for Housing Growth: Providing for urban development in the new resource management system: Discussion Paper June 2025.

Property Council are currently drafting a submission that is due on 15 August – if you’ like to see our draft submission and have your say, please get in touch with Sandamali to join our Resource Management Taskforce.

The National Infrastructure Plan

On the 25th of June, New Zealand’s infrastructure Commission (Te Waihanga) released their draft National Infrastructure Plan. This plan sits alongside the Commission’s previous work that aims to give New Zealanders greater confidence that the infrastructure we rely on is well planned, provides value for money and meets the needs of both today and tomorrow.

The plan looks to uplift government capability and identifies four key areas of reform. These are; establishing affordable and sustainable funding; clearing the way for infrastructure by improving regulatory settings; starting with maintenance; and ensuring the right size new investment. The Advocacy team supports the general direction of the plan and acknowledges the Commission’s work towards creating a ‘centre of excellence’ to uplift infrastructure delivery.

The submission will be available for member feedback on the 28th of July before submission on the 6th of August. If you would like to stay involved in this submission, please contact Bella Leddy.
