Jenny Larking 
Head of City Centre Programmes, Development Programme Office, Auckland Council

Jenny currently heads the city centre programmes team in the Development Programme Office that coordinates the council group projects city centre.  Prior to joining council, Jenny started her career as an architect, before moving onto managing the building and infrastructure assets at Massey University in Palmerston North.

 


 

Martin Shelton 
Programme Director, America's Cup 36

Martin saw the America’s Cup for the first time when he was 20 years old – it was still bolted down in the New York Yacht Club!  Racing sail boats in the US was a distraction from his Civil Engineering degree in Edinburgh, finally completed the following year.  A start as a site Engineer for Taylor Woodrow on Heysham Nuclear powerstation led ultimately to roles in construction, property development and management consulting.  He’s respected for innovation and focused on actively driving complex programmes and commercial outcomes.  Prior to AC36 , at New Zealand Defence Force, he champion adoption of the NEC4.

 

 

Michael Burns 
Manager, Financial Dtrategy and Planning, Auckland Council 

Michael is a finance professional with over 10 years’ experience working in Auckland local government.

As well as providing advice on appropriate financial strategies to support strategic objectives, Michael leads the review, analysis and communication of the overall Auckland Council Group financial picture. His team is also responsible for the delivery of the council’s annual and 10-year budgets. 

Michael is a Chartered Global Management Accountant who has held a number of senior financial positions at Auckland Council and he has extensive experience in the areas of funding and financing, financial modelling, and business performance.

Sean Sweeney 
CEO, City Rail Link Limited

Dr Sean Sweeney is an accomplished leader, has an extensive international experience leading large-scale and technically complex infrastructure projects and he has been the Chief Executive Officer of City Rail Link Ltd since July 2018.

Dr Sweeney brings a wealth of relevant and current engineering experience to the project having delivered programmes of major public infrastructure in executive roles for both the client and contractor side.  His portfolio includes a range of iconic infrastructure development including Te Papa Museum, AAMI Park, The Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre, The National Museum of Australia, and the Melbourne Theatre Company and Recital Centre.

More recently he was the CEO of the New South Wales Justice Infrastructure where he established and implemented a $2.5bn prison construction programme for New South Wales.  

 

Simon Oddie 
Principal Programme Manager, Development Programme Office, Auckland Council

Simon Oddie is a Principal Programme Manager at Auckland Councils Development Programme Office, where he is responsible for managing the coordination of major Council capital investment within the City Centre in accordance with Council group strategies. In particular Simon has been overseeing and managing the delivery of the Downtown infrastructure Development Programme - a major redevelopment of Auckland’s city centre waterfront precinct. The programme consists of public realm and transport infrastructure initiatives to cater for the expected growth in people accessing, using and living in the city centre. The programme has a target date of completing key projects by the end of 2020, in time for the 36th America’s Cup. It is being delivered by Auckland Transport and is jointly funded by Auckland Council, Auckland Transport and NZTA.
