Property Council submission on Te hau mārohi ki anamata: Transitioning to a low-emissions and climate-resilient future

This consultation is to help shape the Emissions Reduction Plan.

We support the Government’s overall intentions to reduce emissions, however, we are surprised by the lack of detail within this consultation document.

For emission reductions to occur, we need to collect data from our existing residential, commercial and industrial buildings in order to set realistic and aspirational emission reduction goals.

We urge the Government take a leadership role within the building and construction space to work closely with the sector and develop and provide incentives for new-builds, retrofits and refits in order to create transformative change which overtime will expand the current market and lead to behavioural changes.
