Waka Kotahi ‘Reshaping Streets’ consultation

Waka Kotahi has opened consultation on the ‘Reshaping Streets’ proposals. These are a suite of proposed legislative and regulatory changes that would re-define the ability of local government entities (as road controlling authorities) to make changes to our city’s streets.

Under the proposals, local government would be empowered to ‘pilot’ significant changes to street layouts and design for up to two years, as an alternative form of public consultation. Amongst other changes, local government would have enhanced abilities to change street layouts, introduce ‘Traffic Controlling Devices’ and enable temporary road closures.

These proposals could have a sizable impact on building owners, tenants and the built environment. As such, Property Council intends to submit on the ‘Reshaping Streets’ proposals.
