Tribute to Nic Magdalinos
It is with great sadness that the Property Council New Zealand family mourns the passing of Nic Magdalinos. Nic was a huge personality with a kind heart who pulled every inch of living out of his 36 years. He never settled for average.
In 2011 Nic was instrumental in creating a chapter of Property Council in the Hawke’s Bay. In 2012 he was appointed as Chair, a position he has held ever since.
Nic was relentless in his support for the development and continuous improvement of the Hawke’s Bay region. He understood the importance of, and advocated strongly for, the voice of the architecture and building design in the larger urban planning conversation. He has been on the Board of Management of DesignGroup New Zealand since 2006 and with his support it was the first architecture organisation to become a member of Property Council’s Corporate Members’ Group. The role of beauty and design alongside function in the future planning of our cities, particularly in the Hawke’s Bay region, will very much be his legacy.
The thoughts of Property Council New Zealand are with Nic’s partner Vania, their daughter and family at this time. We have all lost a valued friend, advisor and colleague.
Along with a wealth of memories, which never fail to bring a smile, Nic leaves a legacy of passion, generosity and inclusion. We are grateful to have known and worked alongside him.
