Andrew Buckingham, Oceania Chief Property and Operating Officer steps down

After four rewarding years at Oceania, Andrew has decided the time is right to step down as Chief Property Officer and take a break before exploring new opportunities where he can add value through 40 years of property, development and construction experience. 

Andrew is immensely proud of what Oceania has achieved together – delivering a significant number of retirement village and aged care projects throughout New Zealand including The Helier, The Bellevue, Awatere Village, Waterford Village, Meadowbank Village, Redwood Village, Lady Allum, Elmwood Village, and most recently, the first stage of Franklin Village.

We look forward to seeing what Andrew’s next chapter holds. 

JLL appoints Selina Short CEO of Australia and New Zealand

JLL announced the appointment of Selina Short as Chief Executive Officer of Australia and New Zealand (ANZ).  
 
Ms Short succeeds Luke Billiau, who served as interim CEO and will return to his full-time position as Head of Capital Markets for ANZ. The appointment will be effective 11 May. 
 
“This is an important step in strengthening the operations of our ANZ business and bringing tremendous global and domestic insights to our clients,” said Richard Bloxam, Global Executive Board Member, JLL. “Selina brings an exceptional depth of knowledge in shaping the future of the built environment and driving outstanding outcomes and value for clients.  
 
I would like to also extend our deepest gratitude to Luke for stepping into the interim role and providing much-needed stability for our teams and clients while driving our shared values of Teamwork, Ethics and Excellence.” 
 
Ms Short joins JLL from EY, where she served as Clients & Industries Managing Partner and a member of the firm’s Oceania Executive Leadership Team. 
 
“I’m excited to be joining JLL at a pivotal time for the Australian and New Zealand markets,” said Ms Short. “JLL has outstanding talent, and I am looking forward to working alongside teams across the business as they continue to deliver innovative solutions that shape the future of real estate for our clients.” 

Colliers welcome three new starters for 2026
Connor McCashin  

After three years in London, Connor McCashin has returned to Colliers as a Director of Valuation & Advisory Services, based in Tauranga. 

McCashin brings 10 years of valuation experience across New Zealand and the United Kingdom. He first joined the business as a graduate in 2016 before travelling abroad in 2022. He is looking forward to working with the local team to grow the Tauranga and Waikato valuation offering.  

Jackson Jarvie 

Jackson has stepped up into a brokerage role in the Colliers Auckland CBD based Office Leasing team.  

Jarvie previously worked as the team’s Executive Assistant and holds a Bachelor of Property from the University of Auckland. He will specialise in the Auckland CBD area and is excited to meet and work with new people.  

Mike Gascoigne  

Mike has also joined the Colliers Office Leasing team as a Broker, based in Auckland CBD.  

Gascoigne transitions into brokerage after spending 15 years in the building industry, having completed several home renovations and development projects. His work will focus on the city fringe suburbs such as Parnell and Newmarket.  

Tompkins Wake names Jacinda Johnston, Laura Fischer, Becky Brown as special counsel

In its news release, Tompkins Wake shared that their elevation seeks to acknowledge their achievements and contributions to the firm, their clients, and their practice areas. The firm said it looks forward to their efforts to help the firm grow. Tompkins Wake has congratulated Jacinda Johnston (May), Laura Fischer and Becky Brown on their promotions from senior associates to special counsel in the firm’s commercial property, family law, and dispute resolution teams, respectively.
