A new decade of world-leading research
Property Council New Zealand and MSCI are embarking upon a new ten-year agreement to produce the MSCI/Property Council New Zealand Quarterly Property Index.
The MSCI/Property Council New Zealand Quarterly Property Index is New Zealand’s leading and most credible direct property index. Established in 1994 by 20 of New Zealand's leading property owners and managers, the Index is managed by the Investment Property Databank, an MSCI subsidiary.
"We are delighted to continue our long association with MSCI as the ongoing rigour and quality of the Index is vital for our market to remain a world leader in transparency,” said Leonie Freeman, Chief Executive of Property Council New Zealand.
The agreement with the Property Council ensures that the MSCI/Property Council New Zealand Quarterly Property Index remains an essential part of MSCI’s global suite of research-based indexes and analytics.
The Index is a value weighted, appraisal based Index which measures the income, capital and total returns from institutionally owned property in New Zealand. It has been developed to provide property owners, fund managers and analysts with a benchmark of institutional property performance in New Zealand. The Index details total return, income return and capital return for office, retail, industrial and other sectors on a quarterly basis.
