Infrastructure New Zealand announces new CEO
Infrastructure NZ’s founding chief executive, Stephen Selwood, announced his resignation last month, to take effect on 23 August.
The lobby group’s chair, Andrew Stevens, said the Bank of NZ’s former general manager of institutional banking, Paul Blair, would take over.
Mr Blair was an Infrastructure NZ board member for four years, quitting after he left his bank job at the end of last year. He’s been director of the Yes Disability Resource Centre based in Albany since then.
Kensington Swan promotes Michelle Hill to Partner
Michelle joins partners Matthew Ockleston and Paula Ormandy in leading the Auckland property team, which has seen significant recent growth and is part of the Firm’s now six-partner strong national property practice.
Michelle is an expert in commercial property deals with 20 years’ experience, and has particular focus on commercial leasing, development projects and body corporate matters. She regularly advises a wide range of clients including multi-national corporations, developers, property investors, organisations with extensive leasing portfolios and private clients.
Michelle started at Kensington Swan as a Senior Associate in 2013 and was promoted to Special Counsel in 2018. Michelle is the fifth new Partner this year and brings to twelve (38%) the number of (all full-equity) female Partners at the Firm. The promotion is a recognition of not just the expertise and energy that Michelle brings but also the focus she has on delivering an unbeatable experience for the firm’s clients.
Also this month, Kensington Swan has announced that it intends to combine with Dentons, the world’s largest law firm. The combined firm will have the largest global reach of any firm in the New Zealand market. It provides Kensington Swan with access to the extensive experience and talent of Dentons lawyers across the globe.
The combination, following approval by partners and subject to meeting regulatory requirements, is expected to launch early next year.
RDT Pacific names new Associate Director
RDT Pacific has promoted Laura Johns to Associate Director.
Since joining RDT Pacific, Laura has made an exceptionally positive contribution to RDT's Quantity Surveying team and wider organisation.
Laura has over 20 years’ experience gained from positions throughout New Zealand and United Kingdom with major professional Quantity Surveying practices specialising in education, commercial and health related projects.
Managing Director Chris Ellis noted, “RDT Pacific has been successfully delivering Quantity Surveying Services throughout New Zealand for over 75 years, Laura is an outstanding member of our team, who through her technical ability and vast experience is consistently delivering exceptional services for our clients”.
Duncan Cotterill announces three new partners as the partnership grows to 40
Amanda Bradley specialises in family law and leads the family law practice across Duncan Cotterill’s four offices. She has a particular focus on relationship property, both the protection of, and division of assets including personally owned assets, companies and trust property.
Emma Tomblin is a commercial and property lawyer who advises on a wide range of general commercial, property and private client matters. She has a particular expertise in advising farming families across a variety of rural sectors and in trust law and succession planning.
Dene Gavin specialises in commercial and property law with a particular focus on rural law. Dene also advises clients on commercial law issues across a range of industries including construction, tourism, rural, forestry, aquaculture and property. Dene is also on the board of the Top of the South Community Foundation, and a volunteer for Nelson Coastguard.
