Member Webinar | Retail But Not as We Know It

MEMBER-ONLY CONTENT

Consumer spending plunged by a record 16.4% in April 2020, but one category saw a bounce: non-store retailers. According to Forbes.com, online retailers like Amazon have seen a jump in sales as shares of the Seattle-based company have gained nearly 30% in 2020. So, what is the future for retail property? What innovations or developments are transforming the face of retail globally? How will these trends impact Aotearoa and what should we be investing in now for the future?

Join speaker Chris Dibble of Colliers New Zealand Limited, who will provide an update on how COVID-19 has highlighted the fragilities of the retail sector and fast-tracked the structural changes that were already taking place. Chris will showcase local and global examples of how some retailers and landlords are reacting positively to the opportunities and positioning themselves for the future.

Linda Trainer of Kiwi Property will provide an update on some of the key trends emerging in the retail sector, including the way in which local retailers have adapted to the evolving operating environment. She will also talk about the evolution of the traditional shopping centre and the exciting opportunities presented by the rise of mixed-use.
