The Property Council Committee Internship is designed for those who aspire to board-level roles and have an interest in corporate governance. It allows an Intern to gain valuable experience by having a non-voting seat at the local Regional Committee table for a two-year term.
This is part of the Auckland and South Island regional strategies to broaden the pool of possible Regional Committee members, and benefit from a fresh perspective, whilst the experience will equip the successful applicant with practical tools, processes and insights into the governance of Property Council.
This year we are thrilled to introduce two Committee Interns:
South Island Regional Committee Intern: Matt Voice, Verve Projects

Matt brings more than a decade of construction industry experience with him to Project Management.
His range of experience from being a Carpenter and Site Manager gives him a developed understanding of construction projects from conception to completion in residential, commercial, and civil construction.
Matt’s passion for construction translates into delivering complex projects under challenging constraints from design through construction. Matt’s skills mean projects are delivered on time and within budget, without compromising on quality.
Matt has a clear understanding of the clients’ interests ensuring they are forefront of mind for all project members for the success of his projects. Stakeholder management and relationship building is something that comes naturally to Matt after his years of experience in the industry.
Auckland Regional Committee Intern: Corey Penney, McConnell Property

“McConnell Property has a special quality in their ability to always put people at the centre of commercial success”
Corey has over 10 years of experience in the property industry, encompassing both the commercial and residential property sectors in New Zealand. As a development manager, Corey leads a number of significant city-shaping developments and is responsible for the commercial success of projects across the McConnell Property business. His key areas of expertise include build-to-rent, residential-led development, feasibility, and capital raising.
Corey is an active contributor to the property industry, working at the forefront of issues that affect property in New Zealand. He brings a strong knowledge of the development contributions regime, is a contributor to the build-to-rent task force, and is deeply involved with the proposed plan changes across Auckland.
Corey is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a Bachelor of Property and a Bachelor of Business from Auckland University.
Congratulations to both Matt and Corey on their appointment – we look forward to working with you!
