Join our Development Levies taskforce

In February this year, the Government has announced they will replace the existing Development Contribution Fees with a new Development Levies scheme. The aim of the new scheme is to charge developers for the overall cost of growth infrastructure across an urban area. Councils will still need to identify infrastructure projects to calculate levies, however, levies will be calculated on expected levels of growth and aggregate growth costs for each urban area including growth driven by private plan changes. Councils will also be able to apply additional targeted rates for high-growth areas.

Property Council anticipates that the new scheme may result in higher DC fees for our members.

The changes are expected to be announced in September and will bring significant reform to the way development contributions are currently applied.

Property Council is establishing a Development Levies taskforce that aims to give input on the new development levies scheme and ensure it is fit for purpose for our members. We are running a workshop on the 14th of July prior to formal consultation in September. This is a great opportunity for our members to give the advocacy team their feedback prior to us meeting with the Ministry for Urban Development.
