How to supercharge your Build to Rent plans

On Wednesday 27 March, DevelopU will host the Build to Rent – Past, present and future in Aotearoa New Zealand professional development workshop. But what can you expect from the day and who will you be learning from?

The Build to Rent workshop is an intense half-day of immersive and interactive education hosted by some of the key players in New Zealand’s Build to Rent sector. As the world’s fastest-growing living sector asset class, Build to Rent offers significant opportunities to house more Kiwi’s, faster and at scale. This workshop aims to provide a baseline education of what Build to Rent is (and isn’t), the current regulatory environment in New Zealand, the fundamentals of development feasibility and how to supercharge your Build to Rent development plans.

The day will kick-off at 9:00am with two of Property Council’s advocacy experts, Denise Lee and Logan Rainey, who will take participants through New Zealand’s Build to Rent journey to date, as well as look into what’s next for this fledgling industry.

Alan McMahon of Colliers is up next, with a dive into the data both here and abroad, highlighting the opportunities for Build to Rent and the key lessons from those countries where Build to Rent is at an advanced stage.

Tasked with overall responsibility for Colliers’ Strategic Advisory services in New Zealand across both the residential and commercial markets, Alan’s expertise includes demand studies, pricing, market analysis and forecasting. He currently advises on development issues including feasibility of commercial, and residential developments and has a keen interest in Build to Rent.

Following Alan’s session, we welcome a formidable roundtable of experts including Greg Tolley and Shelley Jenkin of Kiwi Property and Michael Holloway of Outperform, who will be on hand to discuss the essentials of Build to Rent, from development to funding to operation. This is a unique opportunity for attendees to engage with these experts in small groups as we move around the room – bring your questions, your dilemmas, and your ideas!

For the final session of the morning, we will be joined by a panel of local Build to Rent pioneers led by Denise Lee of Property Council and including Roy Thompson of New Ground Capital, Paula Ormandy of Buddle Findlay and Kent Gardner of ARC Residential, who will take us on an interactive Q&A that explores the lessons learned by the Build to Rent sector in Aotearoa so far.

Never have we had such a collective of Build to Rent experts in one room. Now is the time to deepen your knowledge and upskill your team in this exciting emerging market – register today!
