Auckland Council Annual Budget consultation opens

Consultation on Auckland’s Draft Annual Budget 2023/2024 has now opened, with Auckland Council aiming to address an estimated budget shortfall of $295 million for the upcoming financial year. This budget will shape the direction of Auckland for the next twelve months and will influence outcomes across the property sector.

As part of the consultation, we’re concerned that Auckland Council is proposing amending their Revenue and Financing Policy, to ‘pause’ the rollout of Long-Term Differential Strategy for 2023/2024. Property Council has supported the Long-Term Differential Strategy, as it results in reduced Rating Differentials over time, providing a more equitable and fair rating environment for the commercial sector.
