Join us to hear from the key players who have contributed to breathe new life into the Aotea Centre including the main contractor and the design team. They will share insights into key drivers for the refurbishment of the Aotea Centre, a blueprint of this challenging project including managing construction in a live environment, and a preview of exciting and transformational plans for the future of the Aotea precinct.  

You are welcome to take a walk through the renovation of the main common areas (optional) of the Aotea Centre between 3:30pm and 4:00pm prior to registration. Please note that not all areas will have access due to final touches of the refurbishment.

Your ticket will include the speaker presentation, one complimentary beverage voucher with a cash bar to follow and light refreshments. No PPE required as this is no longer a building site.



Emma Mannion, Design Manager with Beca 

Emma is a Design Manager for Beca Ltd with 8 years construction experience. The majority of her career has been spent Contractor side working on large scale, multidisciplinary civil projects until she joined Beca in early 2018. Most recently she has been the Project Manager responsible for the Internal Works and the Convention Wing Refurbishment of the greater  Aotea Centre Refurbishment.

Key Success areas included programme - the need to open on time due to the 2019 Arts Festival, coordination of multiple parties involved in the design and construction of this project and stakeholder liaison.    



Mona Aziz, Building Services Engineer with Stephenson & Turner 

Mona Aziz became part of the S&T family in 2005, rising to Associate by 2009. She is a rare commodity in the industry, being one of the few female electrical engineers in the world who is an award winning lighting designer. Her contribution to the complex integration of lighting in the architecture at 45 Queen Street brought her acclaim, and proved that creativity can be combined with practicality to produce something of inordinate precision and elegance.




Tymen Tolsma, Principal with Stephenson & Turner 

With 20 years of experience in the Architectural industry in Draughting, Design and Management roles, Tymen has worked on a wide range of projects including private & multi-use Residential, Institutional, Commercial and Industrial developments. Tymen took on the role of Principal in 2011.




Jennifer Boyce, Design Manager with NZ Strong 

Jennifer brings 27 years experience in project management, design management, stakeholder management, team management and client relationship management. Jennifer is a highly skilled Construction Design Manager / Project Architect / Senior Architectural Technologist with extensive Design Management Skills, including Construction Design Management and Stakeholder Management  She has proven skills in managing the interface between the development site works and neighbours to ensure minimal impact to their BAU.
