Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at Tupuārangi, the University of Canterbury’s newest purpose-built student accommodation facility, set to open in 2026.
Designed to house 283 students in single ensuite rooms, with dedicated study spaces and welcoming shared lounges, Tupuārangi is more than just a place to live – it’s a carefully crafted environment that fosters independence, connection, safety, and wellbeing.
Gifted its name by mana whenua Ngāi Tūāhuriri, Tupuārangi is one of the nine stars of Matariki, representing growth, nourishment, and the bounty of the forests. This cultural narrative is woven throughout the building’s design, merging the Ngāi Tūāhuriri aesthetic and local stories with modern architectural innovation.
