Join us on Thursday, 10 July at the University of Auckland’s Hiwa Recreation Centre for an exclusive opportunity to explore Aotearoa’s newest world-class sport and wellness facility – and winner of the Rider Levett Bucknall Supreme Excellence and Colliers Project Leaders Education Property Award at the 2025 Property Industry Awards.

Hiwa is a showpiece for the University and a bold statement on the importance of wellbeing, connection, and innovation in the built environment. Located in the heart of the central city campus, this 26,000 sqm vertically stacked facility combines academic, social and recreational spaces – redefining what’s possible on a constrained inner-city site.

MC’d by Phil Eaton of Colliers Project Leaders, you’ll hear from Simon Neale, Chief Property Officer at the University of Auckland; Blair Johnston, Head of Design at Warren and Mahoney; Steve Ritchie, Project Director at Hawkins; and Sean Smith, Associate Director of Campus Life at the University of Auckland. Together, they’ll share the 20-year journey behind Hiwa – from vision to delivery – and how collaboration, innovation and community purpose shaped every stage.

The event will include a presentation from the project team, followed by a guided tour of the building, and will conclude with networking over drinks and nibbles.
