Meet Leonie

The Transformational Leadership Blueprint is delivered by Leonie Freeman, a powerhouse wahine driven by a passion for transformational change.

As Chief Executive of Property Council New Zealand, she has led a bold turnaround, taking the organisation from financial uncertainty to stability, strengthening member engagement, and setting a clear, future-focused strategy.

A trailblazer in the property sector, Leonie has pioneered game-changing initiatives, including the concept that became realestate.co.nz, transforming her own property management business, shaping Auckland Council’s formation, and leading major asset development for Housing New Zealand. She also spearheaded an independent philanthropic effort to address Auckland’s housing crisis.

Leonie’s impact extends to governance, serving on the board of NZX-listed Goodman Property Trust and holding leadership roles in industry organizations. Recognized for her contributions, she has received numerous accolades, including the Property Institute’s Supreme Property Award and Lincoln University’s prestigious Bledisloe Medal.

With a Master of Commerce in valuation and property management, Leonie is a life member of the Property Institute, a chartered member of the Institute of Directors, and a member of Global Women.

The investment to participate in the Transformational Leadership Blueprint is $2,800 per person (excluding GST).

The Transformational Leadership Blueprint has been developed by Leonie Freeman, Chief Executive of Property Council New Zealand.

A well-respected industry leader, Leonie has extensive experience in the New Zealand property industry, having held top positions in both the public and private sector. From creating the concept of what is now realestate.co.nz, to buying and transforming her own residential property management business, helping establish the new Auckland Council, and managing asset development for Housing New Zealand, there’s not many areas of property that Leonie has not touched.

In 2011, Leonie was appointed to the board of NZX listed company Goodman Property Trust, and up until her 2018 appointment as Property Council’s Chief Executive, she dedicated her time to leading an independent philanthropic initiative to solve Auckland’s housing crisis.

In 2018, Leonie took on the role of Chief Executive for Property Council New Zealand, leading the organisation through a major transformational journey that saw it reshaped and reinvigorated.

Leonie holds a Master of Commerce, majoring in valuation and property management and is a life member of the Property Institute of New Zealand, a chartered member of the Institute of Directors, and a member of Global Women. In 2017 she was awarded the Property Institute’s Supreme Property Award, and the Property Council Auckland Property People Judges Choice Award, and in 2020 she received the prestigious Bledisloe Medal from Lincoln University.

Business transformation is the process of making significant changes to a business’s operations, processes, and people. The goal is to make a business more efficient, competitive, or to pivot its strategy.

Types of business transformation:

  • Cultural transformation: Changing the attitudes, behaviours, and beliefs of employees.
  • Digital transformation: Using digital technologies to improve customer experience, streamline operations, and create new business models.
  • Organisational restructuring: Reorganising a company’s roles, responsibilities, and structure to improve collaboration, efficiency, and decision-making.
  • Management transformation: Changing the managerial approach to empower employees, promote innovation and collaboration, and delegate tasks.
  • Operational excellence: Optimising systems and internal processes to save costs and improve operational efficiency.

The Transformational Leadership Blueprint has two main time commitments:

  1. The in-person sessions held at Generator, located in Wynyard Quarter, Auckland, for which attendance is mandatory.
  2. Participants will receive take home assignments to complete between workshops, for which the time commitment will vary.
