Hannes Nel promoted to General Manager - Asset Management at Mackersy Property

Hannes brings over a decade of experience in commercial property, both internationally and in New Zealand. Since joining Mackersy Property in 2022, he has progressed from Asset Manager to leading the Asset Management team, overseeing a diverse portfolio of commercial, retail, and industrial properties.

In his role, Hannes drives portfolio performance, tenant satisfaction, and long-term value creation, while fostering a collaborative team culture. He is skilled in strategic planning, complex lease negotiations, financial governance, and risk management, ensuring Mackersy Property delivers sustainable growth and strong investor outcomes.

Hannes also sits on the Property Council Retail Committee, providing a unified voice for our members, banding together to advocate on legislative and regulatory challenges, to provide a strong voice for the industry, and to ensure retail is recognised as a significant contributor to the New Zealand economy. Congratulations, Hannes!

Colliers Auckland Managing Director announced he will leave the business after 35 years

Colliers longtime Auckland Managing Director Charles Cooper announced he will leave the business later this month after 35 years of service.

Charles is one of the key figures that helped establish Colliers as a leading name in the property industry in New Zealand and his contribution has been immense.

From market-leading deals during his time in brokerage to his strategic leadership in executive management, he will leave the company with a long list of achievements.

His final day will be Friday 19 December, and we wish him all the best for the future.

Jono Crossan

Jenson Varghese has joined the Colliers Strategic Advisory team as a Director, based in Auckland CBD. Varghese brings over 20 years’ experience in infrastructure consulting and strategic advisory, with a focus on transportation planning, further strengthening the team’s ability to support clients navigating complex development and investment decisions. 

After a stint in London, Jono Crossan has rejoined the Colliers Valuation & Advisory Services team as a Director and will focus primarily on Auckland’s CBD office and development markets. After starting his career with Colliers as a graduate in 2016, Crossan brings nearly a decade of experience across New Zealand and the United Kingdom, including work on major projects for leading UK real estate investment trusts. 

Peddle Thorp celebrate three new Registered Architects

Peddle Thorp are proud to celebrate three new Registered Architects in their Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland Studio. Congratulations to Kathy Yuan, Lyndsay Macauley and Tommy Cheng, on achieving their architectural registration with the New Zealand Registered Architects Board.

This is a fantastic achievement and a well-deserved recognition of their talent, perseverance, and commitment to their profession. Congratulations all!
