Hot on the heels of this morning’s Annual General Meeting feels like a fitting moment to pay tribute to our incredible volunteers. These members not only keep our organisation going but provide feedback and fuel for our advocacy workstreams and robust understanding of our industry and the market.
Today we confirmed our governance team for the 2021/22 year, with new appointments on the National Board, Diversity & Inclusion Committee, New Zealand Council of Retail Property and Wellington Regional Committee.
Of course, with new appointments come the inevitable farewells to several longstanding members of our governance team, many of whom have invested countless hours (and in some cases well over a decade) into the Property Council.
The first note of thanks must go to Philip Littlewood (Chief Executive, Stride Property), who has stepped off the National Transitional Board as IL – OD representative after four years of service and Steve Gracey (Managing Director, Rider Levett Bucknall), who has stepped off as IM representative after six years of service. Both Philip and Steve have added huge value to the Board, providing a significant contribution not just to our journey of transformational change but to the wider scope of our services and governance.
The New Zealand Council of Retail Property has also had a changing of the guard, with longstanding Chair Campbell Barbour (NZRPG) stepping off the committee after 13 years of service, including seven as its Chair. Roy Stansfield (Stride Property), Simon Revell (Retail Solutions), John Polkinghorne (RCG) and Richard James (Colliers) have also chosen to step away from the committee after many years of service. This committee have been vocal and forward-thinking advocates for the retail property sector and we are hugely grateful for their time and expertise.
Our Diversity & Inclusion Committee farewells Clare Piper (Christchurch City Council) while Patrick O’Reilly (Trust Management) stepped down from the committee earlier in the year.
In Wellington, the Regional Committee had three vacancies as members stepped off during the year outside of the election period – Tim Dick (JLL), Chris Upton (Beca) and Sarah Livingstone (The Building Intelligence Group). A big thank you to Hayley Mallalieu (The Building Intelligence Group) who joined the committee during the year, filling a position until the end of October.
Finally, in the South Island a small change has been made to the Regional Committee where an additional seat was assigned to an Otago representative, prompting Andrew Carter’s (Carter Group) decision to step down to allow this seat to be taken up by an Otago member.
