A big transformation in Wellington

Property Council is supporting the proposed Shelly Bay redevelopment in Wellington due to the significant economic benefits and rejuvenation the development will bring.

“This development showcases how a partnership between a developer and council can deliver great amenity and public space, protect heritage, deliver housing and rejuvenate an area in decline.  It's win, win all round,” says Alex Voutratzis, Property Council Director of Policy and Advocacy.

The redevelopment, estimated by Wellington City Council to bring economic benefits of approximately $500 million, will see the building of 350 residential houses, a hotel, ferry terminal, cafes and restaurants.

“Additional jobs will also be created, along with the opportunity to create a space that showcases the history and unique natural environment of Shelly Bay, all of which will benefit the local and wider community.”
