’Twas the end of the year in Aotearoa land,
Where builders and planners had much to command.
The Property Council had laboured with care,
To shape the industry with wisdom to spare.
330 meetings, with officials and more,
To open the pathways and unlock the door.
With stakeholders gathered, alignment was sought,
On policies crafted, with progress well-wrought.
The gender gap narrowed, a reason to cheer,
With 45% female speakers this year.
While the Inclusion Alliance took their place,
Driving for change with strength and with grace.
The Build-to-Rent Bill crossed its first mighty stage,
With cross-party support marking a new age.
The Council’s voice echoed, a guiding refrain,
On earthquake-prone buildings and steering the chain.
Phase 2 RMA reform saw early insight,
And housing growth policy moved into the light.
A National Product Register, nearly won,
A pivotal change, a battle well done.
Fast-Track Consenting, though swift in its name,
Faced critique from Property Council, we altered the game.
Now expert panels will wield the last say,
Not ministers’ whims to carry the sway.
The FENZ levy tamed, from heights brought low,
To 2.2%, a manageable flow.
On building products, their efforts bore fruit,
With legislation now tailored to suit.
From Wellington’s welcome to Tauranga’s pride,
Fourteen MPs by PCNZ’s side.
A stadium staged, and elections prepped,
Local councils engaged while promises kept.
In Hamilton, parking and fees found reform,
Phased in with care to weather the storm.
Christchurch’s resilience fund took the stage,
A climate plan born for the coming age.
Auckland invested in transport anew,
While keeping the business differential true.
And Wellington’s owners of quake-prone estates,
Found relief in a remission of rates.
The Minister’s system reform took the stage,
With risk and liability under the gauge.
Trusted professionals will self-certify,
A win for efficiency, reaching the sky.
As the year wraps up, Property Council can say,
The industry’s future is bright as the day.
With progress achieved and new paths to tread,
Here’s to 2025 and the work still ahead!
Merry Christmas to all in the property sphere,
And a prosperous, bold, and bright New Year!
