Furthermore, Julie recently completed her masters degree at Waikato University with research on female leadership and gender sterereotypes and has recently returned to her legal career, working as an employment and public law lawyer.

Julie Hardaker

Rotorua born, Julie lived briefly in Australia before moved to Hamilton in the 1990s to study Law at the University of Waikato. After graduation, she joined law firm McCaw Lewis Chapman and became a partner and held senior management roles. She is involved in various community organisations at a governance level. As a political novice, Julie became Mayor of Hamilton in October 2010, and was re-elected in the 2013 - becoming the first mayor of Hamilton in nearly two decades to survive their first term in office.
