From its earliest days as the literal and spiritual heart of the city, to debate, neglect, grand plans and investment post-quakes, The Square is now ripe for rejuvenation. While the Christ Church Cathedral reinstatement project may be on hold for now, the public and private sectors continue to work together to maintain The Square’s transformation.
As a city, we know what can be achieved when a handful of people decide to take action, and we’re keen to share some of the projects – both delivered and in progress – that hope to bring life back to this iconic piece of Ōtautahi Christchurch’s history; from the newly-minted Regent Building to the overarching Council vision and the redevelopment of the former Rydges/Noahs hotel on Oxford Terrace.
A prime opportunity for Christchurch’s property professionals to gain first-hand insights from key players in the area’s rejuvenation, this event brings together Mainland Capital and Russell Property Group (the team behind the redevelopment of the old Rydges Hotel), Wilson & Hill Architects (who designed the Regent Building), as well as Christchurch City Council and the Christ Church Cathedral Reinstatement Project – all of whom offer different perspectives and insights into what’s next for The Square. Plus, we will be hosted by Anderson Lloyd in the Regent Building – giving you a sneak peek into The Square’s newest project.
